Yes, here we are back in Uganda. We arrived about 10:30pm Uganda time on the 14th, headed to the Hotel, checked in, unpacked and then spent the night trying to sleep. Excitement and endless thoughts won the battle against the sleep we should have gotten, but soon morning came and after a brief team meeting and prayer we were off to Hope Children’s Home.
Off the beaten track in Ganda Village “Hope” is a place we love to go. Usually when we arrive our bus is engulfed by a mass of beautiful African children anxious to greet, touch and love on their strange visitors from America. Today however, they were prepared with a little surprise for us.
We could hear the music as soon as the bus engine stopped but where were the children we have come to expect and love? Walking a few steps further we understood. They were prepared with a welcome fit for a KING!! Lined up along both sides of the pathway were our children singing a welcome song to us. Continuing down the path more children with matching outfits were dancing on the front steps of the building. Then, as we were ushered into the building we found even more children with bright shiny faces greeting us and directing us to sit down.

That is when the real fun began. The children had prepared a whole welcome program for us. It was complete with testimonies, songs they had written, introductions, and speeches all giving glory to Jesus for the bridge that has been built between these children who were once orphans and people from very far way who love and care for them. Then it was our turn to get up one by one to give a greeting and share our hearts with them. These children clearly are grateful for all the generosity shown to them, but in truth they are the generous ones for their love is so evident and so pure that it can’t help but bring richness to your soul.

Lunch was next on their agenda and the Vargas were very ready to enjoy the meal we are so accustom to being served at Hope. Beans, Chapatti, pineapple and bananas followed with a Chai Tea that is the best ever. It was fun seeing our new team members enjoy their first meal there.
The rest of the afternoon was filled with greeting old friends, meeting new ones, having our hair braided (not Randy’s and you know why), walking around and seeing all the new additions to the campus including the two new classroom, taking pictures, hugging, holding, and playing with children, sitting and talking and just spending time together relaxing on the porch in the warm sunshine. Now that is paradise.

We are tired tonight and are hoping we will sleep well. We are glad for this day and look forward to tomorrow. We are also thankful for those of you at home who love us and are praying for us. Your prayers are truly priceless.

hey you two! So great to hear about your first day. I know that the Lord is going to be speaking to you both in the days ahead and I know that you're hearts are open to hear all he has to share with you. Let his love wash over your lives as you walk the path he's chosen for you. I'm praying for you and so excited to have a front row seat!!!! Love you both. Jill
