Where is your sandcastle going to be?
I want to relay a story that touched my heart. As we have prepared to leave on our trip to Uganda there have been many things along the road that have been used by God to prepare the way for us. One story that Randy told me the other day keeps coming back to mind so I think I am suppose to share it:
All of you who know my husband know he is a man of many stories who always has something to share with the people he meets. This is not limited to family and friends at church, for he sees his mission field as anyone around him who will listen. This past week he had the opportunity to speak with a former client who is by most people’s standards very wealthy. He shared about our upcoming trip to Uganda and about how giving to the orphans of that country has changed our lives. The man, after pondering all Randy had told him asked the question, “How do you know where to give? I want my money to go to real need and be sure it is not being misspent.” Randy thought about this for a moment and then replied.
He told the man that it’s kind of like going to the beach walking to the sand and deciding where to build your sandcastle. You look at the lay of the land, give it your best assessment, go to a spot and begin to dig. Before long you will just know whether it is the right place. If it is, you dig a little deeper and begin to build, if it is not you move to a different spot and evaluate that situation. Before long you are settled in and a sandcastle is taking shape and being built.
This made me think about our journey in life to find the work the Lord has prepared in advance for us to do (Eph 2:10) We want to discover what we were created to do, we want to yield ourselves to Him and find life to the full. But to do that we must be willing to set aside our own agenda, listen for His voice and follow Him to the best of our ability. We may go out, stake our ground, find it is the right place, dig deeper and begin to build. Or, we may realize no this isn’t the right place and need to move to a different spot and access that situation. But with the Lord’s help we will eventually settle in to a place He has prepared for us and He will show us one day at a time how to build our little sandcastles to the glory of His name.
For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Eph 2:10

I am so amazed to be able, not only pray for you, but to follow along on your journey with you. Randy and Alisa, you so faithful. You are a huge testimony to me. I know it will be clear why God has you there because you have ears to hear Him.
God bless you and keep you safe.
Love, Chris
I love the analogy of the sandcastle! Very timely for us right now.
