It is funny how a mission trip starts even before you leave and how God uses the time well to prepare your heart for the journey. It seems as if day by day the Lord has been prying our fingers one by one off our lives here. Everything from business challenges to personal times with Him tell us that He has something “new” for us. What exactly that something is we really don’t know. What we do know, is that we want to find out. We are confident that our upcoming trip to Uganda is the next step of this amazing journey.
We are scheduled to leave June 17th and return on the 30th. It seems to us to be a short time to spend given the choices we are considering but our eyes are on the Lord and we are depending upon Him to show us the next step after this one. I have long noted the Christian life is one where we are often left in what I refer to as “limbo”; with lots of “balls up in the air” waiting for the Lord to show us the next right thing to do. Not anxious, panicking or fearful but confident that our trust is well put in Jesus and in His timing we will see the way to go. We have experienced this with our children, our business, our churches and even our marriage. “Patience” the Lord says, “I will show you in My timing.” and He has never failed to see us through. So, we wait with anticipation to discover His plan for our lives.
While waiting He has given us much to do, Leilani’s Graduation, Gabe’s Birthday and packing our 3 youngest kids for their own “Mission” trips while we are gone. The other thing it seems we do each day is check the other Blogs that are out there for our dear friends who are also in different countries serving the people of Africa.
Show Mercy (who we will soon join in Uganda): http://www.showmercy.org/category/updates-from-uganda-june-2008/
And my dear friend Jill who is in Liberia with a small team consisting of her son Jeremy, young friends Keilah and Brandy and herself: http://www.liberiatravels.blogspot.com/
As we read about their Missions we are excited for what the Lord is doing in and through them in Africa and just like Zacchaeus in Luke 19:1-10 we want to climb that tree so we can see Jesus too. Our prayer is that we won’t miss anything He has for us in the time we have left on this earth.
Thank you for tuning into our Blog and being interested in our journey. We would really appreciate your prayers if the Lord brings us to mind. We would like prayer for safety, health, direction, in filling of the Holy Spirit to minister to the people of Uganda, spiritual discernment and of course joy in the journey. We love you and pray the Lord’s blessing on your day.
